Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector for field construction inspection across roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance projects. The role involves on-site work at project locations and requires strong knowledge of construction plans, specs, and safety protocols.

The candidate will inspect activities, calculate material quantities, and communicate findings to supervisors. Travel up to 40% may be required, with a valid driver's license and relevant certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate material and process compliance with plans and specs.
• Uses higher-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspection.
• Work under supervision appropriate to assignment knowledge level.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Documenting and communicating inspection results to supervisor.
