Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector to perform complex on-site construction inspections across roadway, bridge, drainage, and related categories. You will interpret plans, review provisions, and ensure compliance with specifications while communicating findings to the project team.

The role requires extensive knowledge of highway construction materials and methods, strong math skills, and the ability to lead junior inspectors. Travel to multiple project sites will be part of this on-site position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• State Highway Agency or NICET certification in earthwork, asphalt, or concrete may be required by client/ jurisdiction.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related inspection experience.
• Related experience can substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and construction meet plans and specs.
• Use advanced equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to assignment and knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
