Job summary

HNTB Corporation in the United States is seeking a senior engineer to lead design calculations, technical reports, and engineering plans for complex projects, mentoring junior staff and coordinating with project managers to meet schedules. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8 years of relevant experience (or advanced degrees with more experience); PE certification and SCDOT standards experience are preferred.

Locations: Columbia, SC and North Charleston, SC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8 years of relevant experience, or higher degrees with more experience.
• Strong technical knowledge and quality work across engineering disciplines.
• Ability to deliver projects on time and within scope.
• Master’s degree in Engineering preferred; 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
• SC Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
• Experience with SCDOT Design Manuals and Standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses senior-level technical expertise to consider broad range of engineering solutions.
• Oversees discipline planning, work distribution, schedule and budget on complex projects.
• Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
• Develops scope of work and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex projects.
• Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve project objectives.
• Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterparts and teaming partners.
• Leads discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects.
• Works closely with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff; manages performance and succession.
• Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
