Job summary

RINA is recruiting for a Bridge Engineering Inspection Manager in Chicago, IL to lead a team on iconic bridge projects within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

The role requires 10+ years in bridge design/inspection, IL PE/SE licensure, and NBIS leadership; a master's in structural engineering is preferred. Travel up to 15% may be required, with a strong emphasis on QA/QC and client collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in bridge design and/or inspection.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) in Illinois; ability to license in other states.
• NBIS qualified Bridge Inspection Team Leader.
• FHWA Intro to Element Level Bridge Inspection Training completed.
• FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges completed.
• Experience with AASHTO LRFD and IDOT projects; tollway/rail projects a plus.
• Experience with bridge design/analysis software listed.
• Excellent written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and independently manage tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee bridge-related tasks and projects as the Task Leader, ensuring timely and efficient project delivery.
• Manage NBIS inspections, review inspection reports and live load rating to assess bridge integrity.
• Lead development of plans, specifications, and estimates for diverse bridge projects.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and perform alternative analyses to optimize outcomes.
• Provide construction phase services, review shop drawings, address contractor queries, ensure QA/QC.
• Mentor and guide junior staff and oversee CADD Technicians.
• Contribute to project pursuits by developing technical approaches for RFQs.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
