RINA North America is seeking a Bridge Engineering Inspection Manager in Chicago, IL to lead a multi-disciplinary team on innovative bridge projects within the Infrastructure & Mobility division.

The role focuses on NBIS inspections, design and inspection oversight, and delivery of plans, specs, and estimates while mentoring staff and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure safety, quality, and on-time performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering; PE/SE license in Illinois required.
  • 10+ years of progressive bridge design/inspection experience.
  • NBIS qualified Bridge Inspection Team Leader.
  • FHWA training in element-level inspection and fracture-critical techniques.
  • Experience with IDOT projects and bridges.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee bridge tasks as Task Leader for timely delivery.
  • Manage NBIS inspections and review reports and live load ratings.
  • Develop plans, specs and estimates for bridge projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and conduct alternative analyses.
  • Review shop drawings and ensure QA/QC in construction phase.
  • Mentor junior staff and oversee CADD Technicians.
  • Contribute to RFQ technical approaches and project planning.

Bridge Engineering Inspection Manager (Finance)

RINA is currently recruiting for a Bridge Engineering Inspection Manager to join its office in Chicago, IL within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

Compensation Data

$175,000 - $200,000 commensurate with education and experience.
Bonus Eligible.

The Bridge Engineering Inspection Manager is an exciting and pivotal position that puts you at the forefront of groundbreaking bridge projects. You’ll lead a dynamic team of talented engineers, driving innovation and excellence across a range of high-impact projects. Key Accountabilities
  • Lead and oversee bridge-related tasks and projects as the Task Leader, ensuring timely and efficient project delivery
  • Manage NBIS inspections, review inspection reports and live load rating to assess the structural integrity of bridges
  • Task lead for development of plans, specifications, and estimates for a diverse range of bridge projects to meet client requirements
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and perform in-depth alternative analyses to optimize project outcomes
  • Provide construction phase services such as reviewing shop drawings, addressing contractor queries, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures
  • Mentor and guide junior staff members, as well as oversee the work of CADD Technicians, to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment
  • Contribute to project pursuits by developing technical approaches for Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and actively participate in work planning and budget tracking
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in challenging situations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study. Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in bridge design and/or inspection
  • Strong bridge technical experience with ability to complete projects on time and within budget
  • Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) licensed in Illinois required with the ability to obtain licensing in other states.
  • NBIS qualified Bridge Inspection Team Leader.
  • Completion of the FHWA Introduction to Element Level Bridge Inspection Training
  • Completion of the FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges.
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges
  • Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) projects. Illinois Tollway bridge and/or railroad bridge projects preferred. Transit or bridge experience is a plus
  • Experience with new bridge projects and bridge rehabilitation projects
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams and independently manage tasks required to complete structural work in accordance with client requirements
  • Experience with structural design/analysis software (e.g., AASHTOWare BrD/R, PTC Mathcad, MicroStation, SAP2000, LARSA-4D, LUSAS, Merlin Dash, MDX, Bentley Open Bridge Suite, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Valid driver's license required
  • 15% travel may be required based upon business need
