Job summary

NV5, Inc. in Morristown, NJ is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer with 8–12 years of structural engineering experience to lead bridge and structural projects for public and private clients.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support project delivery from planning through construction. The role requires a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering, a PE license (NJ preferred), and strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, NJDOT/NJTA standards, and related software.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required; M.S. preferred.
• PE license required; NJ PE preferred, NY PE a plus.
• 8–12 years of bridge and structural engineering experience.
• Experience with AASHTO LRFD and industry standards.
• Knowledge of NJDOT/NJTA standards and design practices.
• Proficiency with design software: STAAD, LEAP, LARS, MicroStation/OpenRoads.
• Experience leading projects from planning through construction support.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and coordinate with clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage design and delivery of bridge and structural engineering projects for transportation and infrastructure clients (NJDOT, NJTA, counties, municipalities, PANYNJ).
• Oversee preparation of construction documents, design calculations, and specifications.
• Coordinate with internal teams and subconsultants.
• Supervise and mentor engineers and technical staff, supporting professional development.
• Provide technical guidance and project oversight for multidisciplinary teams.
• Communicate with clients, presenting updates and addressing design needs.
• Support proposal development and participate in project interviews as needed.
• Lead technical delivery of bridge and structural projects while supporting schedules and budgets.
• Perform technical reviews and quality assurance checks.
• Develop engineering approaches, design criteria, and project work plans.
• Provide technical support during construction and resolve field issues.
