Job summary

Stanley Consultants, a leading global engineering firm in Chicago, IL, seeks a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead design and coordination for steel and concrete bridges. You will work with CADD teams and engage Illinois DOT and Tollway to ensure designs meet agency standards.

The ideal candidate holds an SE license in Illinois (PE a plus) and 8–12 years of bridge design experience, with proficiency in SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, CSi Bridge and other tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Active Structural Engineer (SE) license in Illinois is required; PE license a plus.
• 8–12 years of experience in structural/bridge engineering design.
• Familiarity with Illinois DOT, Illinois Tollway, and Chicago DOT standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate engineering design efforts with junior/mid-level engineers and CADD teams.
• Develop plans, specifications, and estimates for preliminary and final bridge designs (steel and concrete).
• Ensure quality control and compliance with agency requirements and contract documents.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders, including Illinois DOT and Tollway, to discuss progress and technical solutions.
• Prepare technical reports (Bridge Condition Reports, feasibility studies) and other project documentation.
• Participate in meetings to strategize solutions and develop scope, fees, and project execution.
• Identify differentiators and develop schemes for key pursuits.
• Provide construction support, review shop drawings, and respond to RFIs.
