Job summary

Stanley Consultants is an award-winning, employee-owned engineering firm seeking a Bridge Engineer in Chicago. You will design and analyze steel and concrete bridges, perform load ratings, and coordinate with CADD and project engineers.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Illinois DOT, Tollway, and Chicago DOT, with a strong focus on code compliance and quality documentation. Ideal candidates hold a Civil/Structural degree, PE or SE path, and 4–7 years of bridge experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Active PE license or ability to obtain SE within two years.
• 4-7 years of structural/bridge design experience.
• Familiarity with Illinois DOT, Tollway, and Chicago DOT standards.
• Experience with AASHTO LRFD, NBIS, and bridge inspections is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering design and analysis for bridges and related transportation structures.
• Develop calculations, plans, specs, and cost estimates in coordination with engineers and CAD staff.
• Apply AASHTO LRFD and agency standards throughout the design process.
• Conduct calculations for superstructure/substructure components and deep foundations.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to deliver integrated design packages.
• Participate in meetings with clients and agencies to resolve technical issues.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, and provide construction support under supervision.
