Job summary

Stanley Consultants in Chicago, IL is seeking a Bridge Engineer to perform structural design and analysis for steel and concrete bridges, retaining walls, and other transportation structures. You will develop calculations, plans, and cost estimates in coordination with project teams.

The role requires familiarity with AASHTO LRFD, Illinois DOT standards, and experience with structural software such as CSI Bridge, SAP2000, and STAAD.Pro. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 4-7 years in structural/bridge design; SE license within 2 years.
• Familiar with Illinois DOT, Tollway, Chicago DOT standards.
• Experience with bridge load rating and NBIS familiarity a plus.
• Proficient with AASHTO LRFD, LRFR; design to North American codes.
• Strong communication; ability to prepare technical reports and RFIs.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis for steel and concrete bridges.
• Develop calculations, plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Apply AASHTO LRFD and state agency standards throughout design.
• Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, and CADD staff.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction.
• Manage tasks independently and participate in QC reviews.
