Under the direction of the Office Chief, the Load Rating Branch Chief manages all aspects of structural analysis and load rating. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing workload, ensuring bridge analysis compliance with AASHTO, Caltrans, SM&I, and FHWA standards, and overseeing load rating results.
The incumbent must respond to bridge emergencies, coordinate emergency repairs, and serve on or chair technical committees. Emergency work may require off-peak hours and extended shifts.
Additional duties include providing bridge analysis support to other branches and overseeing consultant projects for load rating quality assurance.
Qualifications include a valid Civil Engineer registration in California and a California Driver's License.
