Job summary

STV currently has openings for a Structural Design Engineer in our Transportation group based in our Empire State Building office in New York, NY. Field locations in NYC Metro Area.

The role focuses on design of new bridges and rehabilitation projects, quality assurance, and mentoring entry level staff, covering highway and railroad structures in New York. LRFR/LFD load ratings are part of design duties and contract documents are produced.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred; PE required (NY preferred)
• Minimum 5+ years of bridge design experience
• Experience with NY agencies (MTA, NYCDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDCC, Port Authority)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to mentor entry level staff
• Design calculations, develop plan details, quantity take offs, and specifications

Responsibilities

• Design & analysis of new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation and seismic retrofit design
• Participating on Design Build Projects and Pursuits
• Perform Quality Assurance on Transportation Projects
• Contract Document production, including drawings and specifications
• Bridge load ratings using LRFR and LFD
• Review of construction phase submittals
