Job summary

CarMax seeks a Senior Art Director – Brand to drive the creative vision across brand channels and stores. You will blend strategy, branding, and design to produce high-quality assets and refine brand messaging with cross-functional teams.

You will champion brand guidelines, mentor peers, and lead multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, exploring AI-enhanced workflows and asset production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in design and art direction.
• 5+ years of experience in art direction, branding or related creative role.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating art direction, identity and brand storytelling.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and related design tools.
• Experience designing brand systems and motion graphics.

Responsibilities

• Proactively contributes ideas to Brand Communications and brand storytelling.
• Develops and maintains style guides or installation guides for channels and stores.
• Leads brainstorms and guides projects to align with marketing strategy.
• Leads with art direction in visual design, branding, and design systems.
• Understands how channel needs, performance metrics, and business goals influence work.
• Explores GenAI impacts for campaigns and builds brand-appropriate templates.
• Researches tools to enhance creative development and testing processes.
• Documents asset recommendations and rationales for legal and other teams.
• Sculpts concepts from inspiration and integrates them into brand-compliant output.
• Presents ideas clearly to diverse audiences and aligns with stakeholders.
• Builds strategic cross-team relationships and drives collaboration.
