Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems seeks an experienced Area Manager for Board Support Software to lead a team developing and sustaining software for embedded platforms in combat vehicle systems. You will drive architecture, integration, and verification across BSP, drivers, bootloaders, and tooling, ensuring on-time delivery and robust quality.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with Systems, Hardware, and Program Management, and enforce engineering best practices, gating success through metrics,

Qualifications

• BS in CS/CE or related engineering field.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience, 3+ in a management role.
• Expert in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix; Git and Bitbucket; Java, C#, C++, Python, QT.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/ISO 14001, OHSAS18001 and CMMI standards.
• Experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management Systems).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to Board Support Software Engineers delivering high quality work for combat vehicles.
• Oversee design, integration, verification of BSP, device drivers, bootloaders, and diagnostics for embedded platforms.
• Guide architecture decisions for hardware abstraction, OS/RTOS integration, and interfaces between hardware and software.
• Support hardware reviews by providing software perspectives.
• Ensure configuration management and traceability for software artifacts.
• Develop and track department metrics; participate in reviews and proposals.
