Job summary

Austin Powder is seeking a Blasting Supervisor to manage field blasting operations at customer sites in the Midland, TX area. You will review drill patterns, prepare blast areas, and supervise personnel to ensure safe, compliant blasting activities.

The role requires 5+ years of blasting experience and relevant certifications. You will work outdoors at mining/quarry sites, coordinating with sales and operations while upholding strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent (GED) required.
• 5+ years of certified blasting experience.
• Technically capable of blasting any quarry or mine serviced by the location.
• Certifications must be obtained within 12 months of hire: Austin Powder Certification, State Blaster’s License, CDL-A with Hazmat preferred, MSHA Safety, First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by complying with MSHA, OSHA, ATF, & DOT regulations in the work area.
• Reviews drill patterns and diagrams to determine product and shot layout to meet customer needs.
• Prepares designated blasting area including blast shelter, equipment, stemming, face, and area.
• Supervises personnel at customer sites and blast areas.
• Maintains positive relationships with customers to grow market share and manage pricing/budgets.
• Communicates blast details to all on-site personnel and prepares/detonates shots.
• Conducts Pre/Post Shot Safety Audits at every event.
• Completes paperwork/shot reports per Austin Powder policy.
• Ensures compliance with customer policies and procedures.
• Coordinates handling of customer issues and incidents with APC personnel.
