Job summary

Amgen seeks a Senior Counsel for Biotech Patent Law to lead global IP strategies for its therapeutic products and pipeline. You will draft and prosecute patents, perform prior art and freedom-to-operate analyses, and support transactional IP provisions across geographies.

The role requires extensive biotech IP experience, strong drafting skills, and ability to advise R&D and business partners while managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited law school.
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Six or more years in patent/IP law in biopharma or life sciences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global IP strategy for Amgen's products and candidates.
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide.
• Conduct IP due diligence for strategic transactions and draft IP provisions in agreements.
• Provide counsel to R&D and business teams on IP matters.
• Support litigation-related matters and patent defense across forums.
