Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer – Upstream/Downstream Process Automation to lead automation strategy across drug substance production. You will work with the Facilities & Engineering group to design, build, commission, and qualify automation systems that are robust, compliant, and scalable for 24/7 operations.

The role requires advanced degrees and extensive experience in process automation, DeltaV, and GMP, plus leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of engineering experience
Master's degree and 4 years of engineering experience
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of engineering experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of engineering experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of engineering experience
2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience

Responsibilities

Site design, construction, start-up, and operational readiness.
Lead commissioning and qualification efforts, including IV/ACO, per GMP timelines.
Collaborate with site process engineering to develop DeltaV automation solutions.
Provide 24x7 automation support and troubleshoot system issues.
Mentor junior engineers and influence automation strategy across site.
Represent plant automation in global forums and during audits.
