Job summary

Boston Medical Center (Clinical Engineering) is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician Senior to support electrical safety testing, calibration, troubleshooting and repairs for biomedical, laboratory, and related medical instrumentation across the hospital. The role includes equipment inventory, on-call coverage, and participation in performance assurance activities.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or 7+ years of instrument repair experience in a hospital

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related engineering field or 4+ years in biomedical instrumentation repair.
• 7+ years of hospital-based experience in the field.
• AAMI certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots critical care instrumentation in clinical areas.
• Conducts electrical safety testing and inspections on department equipment.
• Calibrates equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Performs performance testing and maintenance procedures.
• Performs emergency and routine repairs on instrumentation.
• Maintains and updates equipment inventory and repair data.
• Assists in creating performance assurance forms.
• Participates in on-call rotation (nights, weekends, holidays).
• Evaluates biomedical instrumentation under supervision of manager.
• Attends hospital committees as directed.
• Ensures equipment is properly maintained and safety procedures are followed.
