Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Biologist to join the Southern California Ecosystems Group. You will oversee multi-disciplinary teams on energy, transportation, and public-sector projects.

Field work and regulatory strategy leadership are core parts of the role, with emphasis on California flora, fauna, and regulatory permitting. Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in biological sciences (MS preferred) and have 10+ years of related experience, strong communication, and project management skills.

Qualifications

• BS (MS preferred) in Biological Sciences or related field with 10+ years of experience.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on environmental siting and permitting.
• Strong regulatory knowledge for CEQA/NEPA and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects, supervise staff, and mentor field teams on energy and development projects.
• Plan and lead field tasks: surveys, vegetation mapping, delineations, and monitoring.
• Provide guidance, training, and coaching to junior staff.
• Prepare technical reports and support RFP responses with scope and cost inputs.
• Develop permitting strategies and coordinate agency negotiations.
