Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Biologist to join our Southern California Ecosystems Group, working from one of several offices in the region. The role involves both field and office work, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and guiding regulatory permitting for energy, transportation, and development projects.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of experience in biology, demonstrated project management skills, and strong knowledge of CEQA/NEPA processes, with a focus on southern California flora and

Qualifications

• BS (MS degree preferred) in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, or a related field with minimum of 10 years of experience.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and regulatory permitting for environmental projects.
• Experience with CEQA/NEPA analysis and permitting strategy.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects, supervise staff, lead field teams, and support project managers on energy, transportation, or development projects.
• Schedule and lead field tasks such as species surveys, vegetation mapping, and jurisdictional waters delineations.
• Develop permitting strategies, prepare permit applications, and negotiate with agencies.
