Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Biologist to join our Southern California Ecosystems Group. The role encompasses leading multi-disciplinary teams in field and office settings, coordinating regulatory permitting, and delivering environmental projects from siting to licensing.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of experience in biology, strong CEQA/NEPA knowledge, and proven client collaboration skills, with willingness to travel within Southern California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (MS preferred) in Biological Sciences or related field.
• 10 years of related experience with increasing responsibilities.
• Experience in biological impact assessment and mitigation strategy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA and regulatory permitting.
• Field and regulatory experience in southern California.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects, supervise staff, and mentor field teams on energy and development projects.
• Lead field tasks such as surveys, nesting birds, vegetation mapping, delineations.
• Prepare technical reports and CEQA/NEPA documents.
• Coordinate with clients and regulators to communicate results.
• Lead development of permitting strategies and agency negotiations.
• Assist with business development and responding to RFPs.
• Travel up to 75-80% on direct projects.
