Job summary

Addison Group in Herndon, VA is seeking a Billing Specialist for a Temp-to-Perm role. Position is primarily remote, with local on-site meetings as needed, and a 9:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule. Compensation is $70,000–$85,000 annually.

You will manage complex billing across revenue streams, review agreements, perform reconciliations, and collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Sales to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 4+ years of progressively responsible billing or related finance experience.
• Experience reviewing customer agreements and applying terms to billing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven focus.

Compensation: Salary Conversion $70-85K

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage complex billing and invoicing activities across multiple revenue streams while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely processing.
• Review customer agreements, pricing terms, and billing schedules to determine appropriate invoicing treatment.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate and resolve complex billing discrepancies.
• Partner with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to research and resolve billing-related issues.
• Analyze billing and revenue data to identify trends, exceptions, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare billing-related reports, reconciliations, and analyses to support month-end close and financial reporting.
• Validate billing information and supporting documentation to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
• Process and review billing adjustments, credits, and manual invoices in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor billing workflows and internal controls to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Identify and implement process improvements designed to increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve billing accuracy.
• Assist with billing and accounting system configuration, testing, enhancements, and implementation initiatives.
• Maintain billing procedures, process documentation, and training materials.
• Provide documentation and transaction support for internal and external audits.
• Participate in cross-functional projects involving billing, accounts receivable, revenue operations, and finance systems.
• Provide guidance and support to junior billing team members as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in billing, accounts receivable, accounting, revenue operations, or a related finance function.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex billing processes and resolving non-routine billing discrepancies.
• Strong understanding of invoicing, accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial controls, and data accuracy.
• Experience reviewing customer agreements and applying contractual terms to billing processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently research and resolve issues.
• Experience analyzing large data sets and identifying trends, exceptions, and discrepancies.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and reconciliation activities.
• Experience working with ERP, accounting, or billing systems; Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
• Experience supporting month-end close, revenue reporting, or revenue-related analysis is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Experience supporting audits, system implementations, process automation, or internal control initiatives is a plus.
