Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Billing Data Services in Seattle to design, build, and operate large-scale data systems that govern AWS billing facts. You will lead the technical direction for durable storage and serving paths, and own the data layer relied on by hundreds of teams.

The role emphasizes data quality, correctness, and operational rigor, with collaboration across Commerce Platform teams and Scrum-based delivery. Expect a high-impact, fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 6+ years of programming with at least one software programming language

Responsibilities

• Design high-quality, efficient, and testable code in Java and other object-oriented languages.
• Build large-scale, highly available distributed systems for ingesting, storing, and serving authoritative billing data at the scale of all of AWS.
• Design storage and serving paths that meet demanding freshness, accuracy, and latency requirements for downstream billing pipelines.
• Partner with downstream teams on schema and data contract changes, making sure migrations are backward compatible and do not disrupt their pipelines.
• Own and operate the systems you build, with a high bar for data quality, correctness, and operational rigor.
• Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as a member of a Scrum team.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers across Commerce Platform teams to deliver features and drive best practices adoption.
