Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build large-scale distributed systems on top of AWS, and to advance the metering and billing platforms used by millions of customers.

You will own and operate production systems, develop anomaly detection algorithms to improve billing accuracy, and collaborate with AWS teams to deliver features with a strong emphasis on quality, testing, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one object-oriented language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design high-quality, efficient, and testable code in Java and other object-oriented languages.
• Build large-scale, highly available distributed systems that can grow tenfold every three years.
• Develop new anomaly detection algorithms to detect and eliminate billing inaccuracies, helping customers control costs.
• Collaborate with AWS teams to build software and services that simplify their growing billing needs.
• Own and operate the systems you build, holding a high bar for data quality, correctness, and operational rigor.
• Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as a member of a Scrum team.
• Partner with product managers and engineers across Commerce Platform teams to deliver features and drive the adoption of best practices.
