Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for the Billing Data Services team to build and operate the foundational systems that capture, store, and serve authoritative billing data.

You will design large-scale distributed systems, ingest data from across AWS, and ensure correctness and performance on the critical path of Billing. This role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and Scrum-based delivery.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, distributed software applications
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Experience programming with at least one programming language

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, efficient, and testable code in Java and other object‑oriented languages.
• Build large-scale, highly available distributed systems for ingesting, storing, and serving authoritative billing data.
• Design storage and serving paths meeting freshness, accuracy, and latency requirements.
• Collaborate with downstream teams on schema and data contract changes and backward compatibility.
• Own and operate the systems you build with a high bar for data quality and operational rigor.
• Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as a Scrum team member.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers across Commerce Platform teams to deliver features.
