Job summary

ZipRecruiter is seeking a Senior BI Engineer to design data systems, models, and AI-powered tooling at the intersection of data, business, and engineering. You will partner with RevOps, Decision Science, Product, and Engineering to scale analysis and decision-making.

You’ll work with Spark, Databricks, and Kubernetes to process billions of records daily, translating cross-domain questions into robust datasets and models while mentoring teammates across the BI team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a Data Engineer, Analytics/BI Engineer, or senior IC.
• Advanced SQL and data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Strong data warehouse architecture knowledge.
• Hands-on experience applying software engineering practices to data work (Git, CI/CD, code review, automated testing, monitoring).
• Proficiency with cloud-based data platforms (Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
• Strong communicator across business and technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect data systems that serve business stakeholders and product/engineering teams.
• Extend and improve our internal AI/LM-powered analytics tooling.
• Set engineering standards for data work: testing, CI/CD, code reviews, observability.
• Build and own reusable data models and datasets for cross-domain questions.
• Collaborate with product engineering to embed analytics in pipelines and systems.
• Mentor teammates and raise the technical bar across the team.
