Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Staff Field Engineer for Energy Storage Operations to lead deployment, commissioning, and optimization of utility-scale BESS. The role requires deep expertise in HV electrical systems, PCS, BMS, controls, and SCADA, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

The incumbent will independently diagnose complex issues, perform root-cause analyses, and drive technical improvements across Engineering, Product, Quality, and Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive engineering/field experience in BESS or high-voltage systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and fault-analysis skills.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and manage field deployments independently.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical authority for BESS commissioning and operation.
• Lead complex troubleshooting across HV electrical systems, PCS, BMS, controls, and SCADA.
• Conduct root-cause analysis, failures investigations and performance improvements.
• Travel up to 75% to support deployments, commissioning, and escalations.
• Develop training and scalable field engineering best practices.
