RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Sr BESS Optimization Engineer I to lead engineering efforts for utility-scale energy storage projects. This full-time, permanent role sits in the BESS Technology Optimization team and focuses on delivering state-of-the-art technology and design features to meet evolving market needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• At least 7 years in energy storage technologies with OEMs and use cases.
• Product management and development experience.
• Strong communication and leadership across diverse teams.
• Mentor engineers and drive performance.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic planning for product selection and roadmaps.
• Evaluate emerging storage tech for long-duration, cost, reliability.
• Improve standard project designs for cost and performance.
• Coordinate with Development, Procurement and EPC.
• Participate in enterprise forums and technical steering.
• Identify and resolve complex problems with limited oversight.
• Provide technical due diligence for storage suppliers.
• Influence architecture standards and performance.
• Develop energy storage designs including cooling and controls.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish best practices.
