Job summary

Clearway Energy Group seeks an Associate or Senior Associate of BESS Modeling and Structuring to develop complex optimization and ML/DL forecasting models for BESS valuation and trading decisions. You will build and maintain CWENQuant, develop data pipelines, and contribute to dispatch optimization for energy assets across the US.

The role requires strong Python capabilities, experience with MIP/LP tools, and knowledge of power market economics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Senior Associate: 3+ years of quantitative or modeling experience in energy/trading.
• Associate: <3 years in energy modeling.
• Programming skills: Python required; R, SQL etc.
• Experience with ML/DL models using scikit-learn, Keras, or TensorFlow.
• Experience with linear/MIP and tools like PuLP, Gurobi, CPlex.
• Strong knowledge of power market economics and ISO markets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy complex optimization models for BESS dispatch, renewables, gas generation, and data center projects across the US.
• Develop stochastic or ML/DL models to forecast prices based on load, gas prices, and wind/solar generation.
• Maintain gas dispatch, HRCO, toll, and pricing models; perform MTM analysis and due diligence.
• Benchmark models against actual operations to improve forecast accuracy.
• Provide insights from modeling results to support budgeting, trading, and market advocacy.
• Build and enhance CWENQuant platform; create data pipelines and dashboards using data science and optimization.
• Analyze forwards vs. actual prices to inform trading strategies and risk practices.
• Support risk management, trading activities, and market advocacy with analytical insights.
• Stay updated on macro/micro market conditions and their impact.
