Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Sr. Engineer for BESS Acoustics to lead acoustic modeling and regulation interpretation for utility-scale projects. Responsibilities include field measurements, noise-mitigation evaluation, and collaboration with project teams to ensure compliant designs.

The role requires 5+ years in outdoor/environmental acoustics, experience with manufacturers/consultants, and willingness to travel. Onsite preferred, with remote flexibility. W-2, 1-year contract.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years in outdoor/environmental acoustics, acoustic modeling, noise control, or related field.
• Experience with equipment manufacturers, engineering consultants, and project teams to resolve technical issues and communicate objectives.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for project, vendor, and site visits.
• INCE certification is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Model and review BESS acoustics for utility-scale projects, providing leadership on acoustic modeling and community-noise impacts.
• Evaluate practical noise-reduction solutions for HVAC/chillers, PCS/inverters, transformers, GSUs, substations, and other BESS equipment.
• Interpret applicable noise ordinances and regulatory requirements and translate them into design and compliance criteria.
• Apply AI-enabled tools to acoustic research, data analysis, regulatory review, and engineering workflows to improve quality and efficiency.
