Job summary

Zoox is building the first fully autonomous vehicle fleet, and this role owns the core Bazel build ecosystem, accelerating engineering velocity by reducing overhead and enabling faster iteration times. You will develop custom Bazel rules (Starlark), integrate code quality tools, and create dashboards to empower developers while collaborating with Engflow and open‑source contributors.

You will work with a strong focus on building scalable tooling and a high‑quality, measurable development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience.
• 4+ years of Bazel or similar systems (Buck/Pants).
• Experience on Linux systems.
• Familiarity with maintaining large polyglot code bases.
• Comfortable writing Python to automate processes.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the core Bazel build ecosystem used by Zoox engineers.
• Directly accelerate engineering velocity by minimizing Bazel overhead and optimizing incremental builds.
• Develop custom Bazel rules and tooling (via Starlark) to abstract complexity.
• Integrate software quality tools into the build system and development workflow.
• Build tools and dashboards to empower developers to ship better software faster.
