Job summary

1X is hiring engineers to design and validate battery systems for the NEO humanoid robot. You will own architecture, select components, and develop compact, safe energy solutions that power robots in real-world environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 5+ years building battery systems or complex electromechanical products.
• Experience developing fixtures and test equipment.
• Experience with lithium-ion battery packs/modules/cells.
• Understanding of Li-ion cell performance, degradation, and safety.
• Experience with pack architecture and integration (cells, interconnects, sensing, protection, thermal, packaging).
• Experience defining and executing battery characterization and validation testing.
• Experience analyzing battery data to drive engineering decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and component selection for NEO battery systems.
• Develop compact, lightweight, safe, reliable battery solutions for humanoid robots.
• Work hands-on with cells, modules, packs, test systems, and complete robots.
• Improve performance, safety, lifetime, and manufacturability through testing and data analysis.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Embedded Software, Mechanical, Controls, Reliability, Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to deliver integrated energy systems.
• Support prototype builds, validation, NPI, supplier qualification, and production ramp.
