Job summary

1X is hiring a Test Engineer/Senior Test Engineer in San Carlos to own end-to-end test systems for NEO electronics and robotic subassemblies. The role spans software, firmware, and hardware, including fixtures and production operations to ensure quality before shipping.

You will build operator-facing test apps, fault-diagnose across components, and drive data-driven improvements in test coverage and deployment. A strong background in EE/CE/CS/Robotics and hands-on testing are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C++, with ability to develop test apps.
• Ability to read schematics and debug electronics at board/subsystem level.
• Experience with embedded systems and common protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet).
• Hands-on with bench instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies).

Responsibilities

• Develop and own test systems for NEO electronics and robotic subassemblies from design release to high-volume production.
• Create and maintain operator-facing test applications with clear pass/fail criteria.
• Improve station uptime, test coverage, data quality, and deployment consistency.
• Reproduce and resolve defects across hardware, firmware, software, instruments, and fixtures.
• Link test data with serial numbers and logs for actionable production insights.
