Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of battery enclosure/structure components for the R1, R2 and R3 platforms. You will own BOM cost and mass and coordinate DFMs with manufacturing to meet program goals.

This onsite role at Rivian's design Headquarters in Irvine, CA requires strong collaboration across disciplines and a passion for safe, reliable, and manufacturable designs that perform at rate and cost targets.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering (required).
• 5+ years as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
• Experience with battery enclosure/structure or related components.

Responsibilities

• Own the development of battery structure components.
• Own BOM cost and mass for responsible parts.
• Coordinate DFM studies including tooling investment.
• Work with manufacturing to deliver cost-effective designs at required rates.
• Create engineering release documents (2D drawings, DFMEA, DVP).
• Support risk management (DFMEA, feasibility, validation items).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for crash, durability, NVH requirements.
