Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Battery Test and Validation Engineer II, Dynamics and Structural, to advance the safety and performance of our energy storage systems. You will own mechanical test streams, run validation tests on modules to packs, and collaborate with design and CAE teams to link experiments with simulations.

You will apply first-principles mechanics, manage test fixtures and sensors, and produce robust test reports and data-driven recommendations to design owners across functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 2–4+ years in mechanical testing, experimental structural mechanics, or vibration validation.
• Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, vibration theory, and structural dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute structural and mechanical validation tests on battery modules, packs, and subsystems.
• Perform tests to characterize dynamic responses using modal hammers, shakers, drop towers, and load frames.
• Design, review, and procure robust test fixtures meeting stiffness requirements.
• Develop sensor instrumentation strategies for strain gauges, accelerometers, load cells, and displacement sensors.
• Post-process and interpret time-series and frequency-domain data to extract structural metrics.
• Collaborate with CAE teams to provide empirical data for model correlation.
• Compile comprehensive test reports and recommendations for design owners.
