Job summary

Gotion Inc. in Silicon Valley is seeking a senior-level battery cell design engineer to lead cell development for US OEM programs, from concept through production launch.

You will translate system requirements into cell design targets, drive validation and DFMEA activities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams globally. Strong experience with lithium-ion cell testing, aging and safety is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field.
• Seven+ years in lithium-ion battery cell development, characterization, testing, or validation.
• Experience delivering at least one full lithium-ion cell product-development cycle.
• Hands-on testing and data interpretation for cell performance and degradation.
• Familiarity with electrochemical characterization techniques (GITT, EIS, CV, PITT).
• Understanding of cell manufacturing processes and end-of-line testing.
• Strong communication and collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical interface for U.S. OEM customers on cell design, development, validation, and industrialization.
• Provide technical leadership in discussions on cell architecture, materials, safety, and fast charging.
• Translate customer requirements into cell-level design targets and trade-offs.
• Lead DFMEAs, PFMEAs, and coordinate design reviews with customers.
• Develop test methods and validation strategies for cell-in-pack performance and safety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams from RFI/RFQ through mass production.
• Travel up to 30% domestically and internationally for customer engagements.
