Job summary

Matrix Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Batch Automation Engineer to design, configure, test, commission, and support ISA-88 batch solutions for manufacturing clients. The role requires strong process controls experience and the ability to translate requirements into reliable automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Computer, or Controls Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Minimum six years of controls, automation, electrical troubleshooting, and start-up experience (senior-level batch automation).
• Hands-on experience with ISA-88 batch concepts, recipe management, procedural control, and unit operations design.
• Experience with batch or process automation platforms such as Rockwell/PlantPAx, Siemens SIMATIC BATCH, AVEVA/Wonderware, or similar systems.
• Experience with PLC/DCS platforms used in process manufacturing, including Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent.
• Exposure to HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View, AVEVA/Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC) and industrial communications protocols.

Responsibilities

• Learn and uphold safety practices; assist site-team safety and policy compliance.
• Mentor peers; contribute to continuous improvement of batch automation standards.
• Apply Matrix Project Methodology focusing on software development, batch systems, testing, commissioning, and best practices.
• Lead/scoped development of project scopes, design concepts, estimates, schedules, and technical assumptions for batch projects.
• Gather field data; review control designs; write functional specs, narratives, batch docs, and test plans.
• Design, configure, and support ISA-88 batch solutions including recipes, phases, and equipment modules.
• Develop DCS/PLC code, HMI graphics, batch interfaces, historians, and integration with external platforms.
• Lead software development and testing; perform FATs/SATs; troubleshoot batch execution and integration issues.
