Job summary

Ascent Hospitality in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Banquet Captain to oversee banquet functions from setup through breakdown, ensuring seamless service and brand standards. You will lead the banquet team, coordinate with Sales/Catering, and ensure events run smoothly with exceptional guest satisfaction.

This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a proven ability to manage high-volume events in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; hospitality education preferred.
• Current food handler’s permit and alcohol service certification (as required by law).
• ServSafe certification required (or obtained within 30 days).
• Experience in restaurants, bars, or banquet operations preferred.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct banquet functions aligned with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
• Lead pre-function meetings, assign staffing, and plan service.
• Coordinate setup, execution, and breakdown of events from start to finish.
• Serve as liaison between Sales/Catering and event host/contact.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve issues during events.
• Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training banquet staff.
• Collaborate with culinary, sales, and hotel departments.
• Provide hands-on service support during events.
