Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Manager, Counsel - Retail Bank Legal to provide strategic legal counsel for bank and cafe operations, monitor customer complaints, and translate regulatory requirements for the business. This role supports a hybrid schedule with three in-office days and opportunities to influence policy across Consumer & Small Business Banking.

The position requires a JD, active bar admission, and at least 3 years of attorney experience.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active state bar admission in good standing.
• 3+ years as an attorney in a law firm, government, military JAG, or in-house counsel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Legal point of contact for bank and cafe operations functions and provide guidance on servicing and operations strategy.
• Provide legal advice and support on responses to customer complaints and disputes.
• Collaborate with compliance and business partners to investigate consumer complaints and craft written responses.
• Identify and coordinate resolution of potential regulatory or operational errors in lines of business.
• Advise on standardized responses to recurring complaints or demand scenarios for compensation.
• Provide insights on litigation and regulatory trends affecting the business.
• Translate complex laws for business teams and translate business intent for legal teams.
• Engage with colleagues to deliver cross-functional legal support.
