Job summary

Albertsons Companies in Phoenix seeks an experienced Accountant for its Electronic Banking Department. The role sits in National Services Center and focuses on cash, banking operations, and financial system optimization.

You will analyze processes, automate where possible, support audits, and collaborate with Treasury, IT, and Finance to ensure GAAP-compliant, accurate reporting. A Bachelor’s in Accounting and 5+ years of relevant experience are required, with strong Excel/Oracle skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MBA or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with exposure to cash, card settlement, treasury, or banking ops
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP and internal controls, with cash accounting, reconciliations, and treasury processes
• Proven SME capable of leading complex accounting areas or processes
• Strong cross-functional partnering with Treasury, Audit, card processors and banking partners
• Experience driving process improvements and automation within accounting operations
• High analytical skills to identify variances and resolve reconciling items
• Experience supporting internal and external audits and SOX compliance

Responsibilities

• Support daily workflow for the Banking team and learning desk responsibilities to ensure timely operations
• Analyze business processes to identify automation and data accuracy improvements using Alteryx, OTBI, and reconciliation tools
• Coordinate with leadership on project requests and communicate updates to stakeholders
• Support accounting system maintenance to meet GAAP and policy requirements
• Lead or participate in cross-functional workgroups for process improvements and system optimizations
• Provide expertise in maintaining banking applications and file transfer processes
• Assist team members with resolving system issues and validating reports
• Lead project documentation for audits and SOX controls
• Support and optimize banking and reconciliation platforms like ReconNet and CashPro
• Perform detailed cash balance analytics and variance analysis
• Mentor team members and promote continuous learning via Pluralsight/Coursera
