Job summary

Prometheus Energetics in the U.S. is seeking an experienced Ballistician and Igniter Design Engineer/Senior Ballistician to lead interior ballistics modeling, grain geometry design, and igniter system architecture for SRMs.

This role reports to the Director of Engineering and drives the end-to-end ballistic lifecycle from concept sizing to static fire correlation. The ideal candidate has 4–10 years of propulsion experience, hands-on interior ballistics, 2D/3D grain design, igniter hardware, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 4–10+ years of propulsion experience in interior ballistics or igniter design.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
• Experience with NASA CEA, grain design, and ignition hardware.

Responsibilities

• Lead interior ballistics analysis and performance prediction for SRM programs.
• Design and optimize 3D propellant grain geometries to meet constraints.
• Model ignition transients and ensure hangfire-free motor starts.
• Oversee initiator/squib selection and safe-and-arm interfaces.
• Lead testing and correlate models with test data.
• Maintain ballistic databases and LAT trends.
