Job summary

Ursa Major seeks a Senior Ballistician to support research, design, testing, and evaluation for next-gen SRM technologies. You will provide technical analysis results and contribute to design and manufacturing with innovative solutions for ballistic challenges.

Responsibilities include developing computational methods, validating performance, and presenting results to government and customers. A strong background in energetics and cross-functional collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in Solid Rocket Motors, ballistics, or engineering design/analysis.
• Experience with energetics performance analysis.
• Experience with experimental design and data analysis.
• Proficiency in CLWire, SPP, or similar ballistic analysis tools.
• Familiarity with control theory and its application to engineering problems.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers.
• Eligible for U.S. Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform ballistics analysis to meet programmatic requirements and inform/validate design.
• Develop, refine, and validate computational methods to predict propellant and ballistic performance.
• Review test data and derive conclusions to influence future designs.
• Prepare and present ballistic results to government partners and customers.
• Support characterization, testing, and modeling of energetic materials.
• Aid rapid response failure investigations and production deviation closures.
• Collaborate with systems, design, and manufacturing teams to ensure motor performance meets requirements and is manufacturable.
• Organize and present program findings to internal/external stakeholders.
