Job summary

Prometheus Energetics, a Kratos Defense and Security Solutions joint venture, seeks a Senior Ballistician / Igniter Engineer to lead interior ballistics modeling, grain geometry design, and igniter systems for solid rocket motors. You will own the ballistic lifecycle from sizing and burn-rate tailoring to ignition transient modeling and production support.

Applicants should have 7–10+ years in SRM propulsion, experience with NASA CEA, 3D grain design tools, and CAD/CAE (SolidWorks/NX/Creo); U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, chemical, or related field.
• 4–6 years SRM interior ballistics, grain design, or igniters.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead interior ballistics analysis and performance prediction for SRMs.
• Design and optimize 3D propellant grain geometries to meet constraints.
• Own end-to-end igniter system design, sizing, and qualification.
• Model ignition transients and ensure hangfire-free motor startup.
• Lead testing campaigns and correlate models with test data.
