Job description

Cape Fox subsidiary Eagle Health, LLC is accepting resumes for a Senior Bacterial Core Technician to support the members at Ft. Detrick, Maryland.

Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform BSL-3 laboratory operations and animal manipulations, including approximately 5 animal studies in DTRA funded and contracted projects.
  2. Conduct in vitro Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) testing of potential therapeutic compounds against Tier 1 bacteria, testing over 72 compounds annually against 30 strains including Bacillus anthracis, Yersinia pestis, Francisella tularensis, Burkholderia mallei, and Burkholderia pseudomallei.
  3. Participate in small animal studies (mouse, rat, rabbit), including drug preparation, administration, sample collection, and ensuring compliance with IACUC protocols.
  4. Attend weekly lab meetings, contribute to research design, and present at scientific conferences as needed.
  5. Support pharmacokinetics and toxicology studies in small animals, including drug administration and sample collection for analysis.
  6. Assist in data analysis and report drafting for internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Utilize mass spectrometry, chromatography, HPLC MS/MS, and biophysical techniques for product testing and characterization.
  8. Perform bioanalytical data acquisition, analysis, and reporting using specialized software.
  9. Prepare media and reagents (~25 annually), and support animal and bacterial challenges (~5 and 10 annually).
  10. Conduct animal injections (~400 annually), observations, necropsies (~500 annually), and blood collections (~125 annually).
  11. Manage laboratory supplies, inventory, and safety protocols, including equipment and chemical inventories.
  12. Review scientific literature, assist in SOP and manuscript preparations, and present research findings.
  13. Maintain compliance with GLP regulations and contribute to study design and oversight.
  14. Support establishment of material transfer agreements and collaborative research efforts.
  15. Ensure enrollment and compliance with CS-PRP and BPRP regulations.
