Qualifications

• Six or more years of backend or platform engineering experience.
• Experience designing distributed systems with low latency and high availability.
• Proficiency in one major backend language (Java/Go/Scala/Rust/C++).
• Experience with streaming systems (Kafka, Pulsar, or NATS).
• Knowledge of various data stores and scalable storage concepts.
• Track record leading multi-quarter platform initiatives and mentoring teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build internal platform services and shared infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers.
• Architect high-throughput, latency-sensitive backend platforms with predictable tail latency.
• Build durable event-processing pipelines and asynchronous job execution platforms.
• Design and operate caching, rate-limiting, and request-shaping layers for safe scaling.
• Develop platform abstractions, SDKs, and libraries for product teams.
• Establish observability, SLOs, and capacity planning for platform services.
• Drive multi-region, fault-tolerant and geo-distributed designs with high availability.
• Lead incident response, post-mortems, and durable engineering improvements.
• Define platform-wide API standards and backward-compatible versioning.
• Mentor engineers and lead architectural discussions across teams.
