Harvey is seeking a Backend Platform Engineer to build and operate the cohesive backend platform powering our services. You’ll design shared frameworks, libraries, and APIs that improve developer experience and platform reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python and backend fundamentals.
• Experience with Flask/FastAPI and microservices.
• Familiarity with caching, messaging, and databases.
• Strong testing, typing, and CI practices.
• Excellent collaboration and communication across teams.
• Experience with internal libraries is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Harvey’s internal backend frameworks and libraries that provide common capabilities.
• Create and improve APIs, service templates, and versioned interfaces.
• Introduce async I/O and streaming patterns for better performance.
• Design Harvey-specific abstractions and domain-specific frameworks.
• Embed reliability with tracing, metrics, and automated tests.
• Collaborate with Model Infrastructure on GenAI-native applications.
• Work with Developer Experience and Infrastructure teams to integrate platform components.
• Partner with product engineering to evangelize best practices and provide clear documentation.
