Job summary

Harvey AI is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Backend Platform to lead a team building the core abstractions, frameworks, and services that power Harvey’s backend systems. You will shape architecture, drive platform improvements, and mentor engineers to deliver reliable, scalable software across the organization.

You’ll partner with Security, Infrastructure, and product teams to ensure safe data handling and robust performance under growing demand.

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years of engineering management.
Deep technical judgment in backend architecture, distributed systems, concurrency, caching, API design.
Experience building shared libraries or internal platforms adopted across teams.
Technical depth to engage directly in design and code reviews.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow the Backend Platform team with clear ownership and growth paths.
Define the platform's technical vision and roadmap in collaboration with product engineers.
Architect and guide next-gen backend foundations: database access, caching, session management, and streaming.
Collaborate with Infrastructure to optimize data stores, replicas, and storage systems.
Improve latency, observability, and reliability; measure success by adoption and developer productivity.
Stay close to architecture discussions, review critical code, and drive changes into production.
Mentor engineers and balance platform flexibility with robust abstractions.
