Job summary

Red Hawk Technologies is seeking a talented backend software engineer to design, develop, and test scalable server-side applications for multiple clients on a remote, long-term contract.

You will work with Java, Node.js, PostgreSQL and Azure, collaborating with clients and product teams to deliver reliable, secure solutions with maintainable architectures.

This 1099 contract offers $70/hour and potential for full-time consideration for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 5+ years as a software engineer with direct client-facing experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java and Node.js.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and relational DB design.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services.
• Experience with RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with Git and other version control systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent client management, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of modern DevOps principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test backend applications and services using Java, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services on Microsoft Azure.
• Partner with clients to gather requirements, provide technical recommendations, and communicate progress.
• Work with engineers to design APIs and microservices architecture.
• Write unit tests and follow test-driven development practices.
• Translate business requirements into technical specs with product managers.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
• Debug and troubleshoot software issues across the stack in live environments.
• Manage client expectations and priorities on multiple projects.
