Pearson is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve scalable backend systems in a cloud-native environment. You will lead architecture, design, and production operations, shaping the next generation of our platform while maintaining reliability and performance across distributed teams.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, autonomy, and collaboration with product and security teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with backend systems experience.

Responsabilités

Lead architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support of complex software systems.
Build scalable, reliable backend services and distributed systems in a cloud-native environment.
Own major engineering initiatives from discovery through delivery and production rollout.
Balance new features with modernization, debt reduction, and reliability improvements.
Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical approaches.
Develop and communicate architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs.
Mentor engineers through design reviews, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Produce clear technical documentation and runbooks.
Drive continuous improvement in development, deployment, and production support practices.
Own production systems including monitoring and incident response.
