Job summary

Wander is seeking a senior to staff backend engineer to own adapters and the canonical data model that unifies many property-management systems. You will design reliable integrations using TypeScript on Effect, with PostgreSQL as the source of truth and a strong emphasis on observable freshness, retries, and deterministic recovery.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building backend systems that must stay up and correct.
• Deep experience with REST/HTTP APIs and external integrations.
• Strong relational DB fundamentals and data ownership.
• Excellent TypeScript and at least some Experience with Effect.
• Able to simplify complex integrations and avoid over-engineering.
• Proven ability to observe, retry, and recover in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and own PMS adapters, connecting to vendor REST/HTTP APIs and mapping data to Wander's canonical model.
• Create the canonical model and transformers to normalize multiple vendors.
• Make freshness, retries, and recovery observable and reliable.
• Keep the database as the source of truth for accepted work and recovery state.
• Extend patterns to hotel systems as new integrations arrive and generalize where appropriate.
