Job summary

Cohere is seeking a highly experienced Senior/Staff Backend Software Engineer to shape the Model Vault platform. You will evolve backend systems, define architecture for authentication, deployment, billing, and privacy, and scale to millions of users across clouds and hardware.

You will own end-to-end projects from threat modeling to production, collaborating with teams across identity, payments, and security.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineer with deep fundamentals in distributed systems and security.
• Experience building production systems in Go, Python, Java, C++, or Rust.
• Track record delivering reliable, scalable backend services at scale.

Responsibilities

• Evolve and scale backend systems powering Model Vault, incl. auth, deployment mgmt, and billing.
• Lead architectural initiatives across identity, payments, and usage systems.
• Build reliable control-plane services for provisioning and operating model deployments.
• Design APIs and distributed systems with strong correctness, isolation, and observability.
• Incorporate security and privacy, tenant isolation, and cryptographic safeguards.
• Drive end-to-end projects from architecture to production rollout and operations.
